Project OutcomeMy design proposal will assist the cook to ensure that different foods remain segregated and hopefully avoid any illness. This, in turn, will prevent expensive hospital visits and prescriptions. In addition people will be able to function normally at work or play. The cutting board will be made from sustainable hard maple and the frame from recycled stainless steel. I propose a thicker board of 45 mm making it durable and long lasting. It can become a kitchen heirloom passed down from generations. The knife holder can act as a knife sharpener negating the need for another tool in the kitchen and saving money. People with visual impairment can use the embossed braille to better identify the appropriate board and knife. Each board and knife will be coloured differently and will feature a unique icon to identify its purpose. All the components can be separated for easy and hygienic cleaning.
