Movvi

Project Description
Beverley School specialises in assisting children with disabilities. Art is a way for everyone to express their feelings. This is why my aim is to make the art class more enjoyable, and more inclusive. This product encourages  learning while playing.
Exploration
My observations indicated that students were having difficulty to focus and engage in the art class activities. Many tools were not suitable for them and I noticed that the children had a hard time grasping drawing tools. Through research and iterations, I found a way for the children to engage while using minimal energy. By making the prototype look like a toy, I hoped to encourage the students to participate. We can all agree that kids love toys and drawing, and by providing a new, better type of tool, I have made it easier for students to participate and enjoy art classes.
Project Outcome
One size doesn’t fit all. My multi-pen project can be used for all children regardless of their abilities. The overall design shape is fun and functional, and delightfully child-friendly. Research shows that sensory objects help to stimulate curiosity.  I was able to design and produce, using 3D printing, a prototype that was durable and safe. Ball bearings underneath the tool made it move easily with less friction. I put three pen holders into the design so that users might enjoy the harmony of colours. The design provides immediate positive feedback for the children and encourages further engagement. Flexible, adjustable grips allow for personalised use.
