Prosthetic Attachment
For Paddle Boarding — Collaboration with Hager Orthopaedic Clinics
Project Description
A paralympic athlete with a prosthetic left hand required an attachment to enable him to compete in upcoming Paralympic games. This project was developed in collaboration with Hager Orthopaedic Clinics.
Exploration
The athlete needed an attachment that would allow seamless and quick transitioning of the paddle between sides during competition. Using Fusion 360, 3D printing and 3D scanning, I developed a tailored solution that addressed the specific biomechanical demands of competitive paddle boarding. Close collaboration with Hager Orthopaedic Clinics ensured the attachment was safe, functional and compatible with the existing prosthetic limb system.
Project Outcome
The final design enables smooth, precise paddle transitions, enhancing the athlete's overall paddling performance and experience. The project demonstrates expertise in assistive technology, user-centred design and the ability to translate specific physical needs into effective functional solutions — improving lives through design innovation.
